DataVault ™

Datavault is Tenjin’s data warehouse as a service. The platform allows you to build custom cohort reporting based on dimensions and metrics that are only accessible with raw data.

What is Datavault?

Datavault is a data warehouse, built and maintained by Tenjin, that gives you access to raw data as well as calculated data like the X-day LTV/user. It is built on Amazon Redshift and has data from different sources joined together by their ID’s. Since this Database is maintained by Tenjin, Tenjin customers do not need to worry about troubleshooting it, setting up data pipelines, or data engineering tasks. The calculated metrics data makes life easier so that customers don't have to compute complicated metrics such as X-day ROAS from scratch.

What is the main use-case of DataVault?

Tenjin’s Datavault has many use cases. One of the main use-cases of DataVault is that it gives users access to raw data and enables them to carry out a more granular analysis with the data, compared to what they can achieve in the Tenjin dashboard. Some examples of this kind of analysis are: building custom metrics, extracting data to build a look-alike audience, making custom fraud analysis, accessing more granular in-app purchases reporting, extracting custom events data, and making a cohort of users by a self-determined event.

Since Datavault allows users to get access to raw data, it can also help them connect and compare Tenjin data to data from other sources such as Firebase, GameAnalytics or Mediation data etc. You can either join the data yourself or use services like Growth Fullstack to have it done for you.

When should you use the Datavault?

We advise customers to use Datavault when they are in the growth stage and lack resources to build their own business intelligence, but want to get access to more granular reporting than those that are available in the Tenjin dashboard.

As an example, let’s say a customer wants to track which ad network acquires users that have the highest Day 7 LTV/ User that also purchased Product XYZ. They can join the attribution data with the reporting cohort metrics table, and join the events table to filter out the purchase product_id.

Datavault can also be used when you want to construct a custom dashboard or visualization with your own metrics.
