This guide will cover all the steps to run Meta iOS SKAN campaigns.
- Setup campaigns (MAI, AEO or VO) in Meta Ads Manager
- Conversion Value Mapping
- Setup in Tenjin
- CV mapping on Meta dashboard
1. Setup Campaigns in Meta
- Go to Ads Manager and choose the ad account associated with your app.
- Select Manual app promotion campaign or Advantage+ app campaign in the Creation method pop-up window that appears, then, click Continue.
- Choose your attribution method as Apple’s SKAdNetwork.
- When you're done, click Publish to publish your app ad.
2. Conversion Value Mapping
Tenjin provides the following instructions and recommendations to setup conversion values mapped to your apps.
In order to track installs on Meta, you will need to do one of the following options:
- Integrate the Meta SDK and turn on SKAdNetwork for Facebook SDK on Settings tab in Meta Event Manager
- OR Implement CV=0 upon install in the Tenjin SDK. We recommend this option.
Then, upload the CSV mapping file by following this step. Once it is done, copy MMP Connection Url.
3. Setup in Tenjin
Make sure you set up send the callback for Meta Install.
Additionally, for AEO campaigns: If you use the following CV mappings of CV 1: starttrial, for example, set up a custom event callback for "starttrial".
For VO campaigns: Set up Meta IAP and/or Meta Ad Revenue (AdImpression) callbacks.
4. CV mapping in the Meta dashboard
Go to Events Manager and select the app you want to configure.
Click the Settings tab.
Check off SKAdNetwork for Facebook SDK, and Under Apple’s SKAdNetwork, click Configure events. Note: If you have not implemented CVs in the Tenjin SDK, please turn ON this checkbox
Select Import from Partner App.
Paste the URL that you copied in the previous step under 2. Conversion Value Mapping section. Once it is done, you can see the mapping on the next page. Then click “Apply”.
1. Why do we need to send custom events?
This is because Meta needs to receive the custom event for opt-in users for their AEO or VO campaign optimization. Once you map the conversion value (1-63) to a custom event on Meta Event Manager page, Meta will be able to decode the conversion value to custom events internally.
2. Is Reported Installs on Tenjin dashboard different from Ad Network SKAN installs?
Yes. The Reported Installs you see for your Meta Ad Sets are modeled installs from Meta's reporting API. This will not necessarily equal the Ad Network SKAN installs seen on the SKAN dashboard.
