Article summary

What are unlinked campaigns?

These are campaigns that are not associated with an app. Data for unlinked campaigns (user acquisition) is not rolled up into app-level statistics in our reports and are not available in DataVault.

What are unlinked Ad Placements?

These are ad placements that are not associated with an app. Data for unlinked ad placements (ad monetization) is not rolled up into app-level statistics in our reports and are not available in DataVault.

Why are campaigns and ad placements unlinked?

This happens when ad networks don't provide enough information about how a campaign or ad placement is linked to a Tenjin App. For example, some networks do not provide store_id, platform, or bundle_id in their campaign stats. This means Tenjin cannot tie campaign or placement stats to an app automatically.

What are hidden campaigns and ad placements?

A campaign or ad placement is automatically hidden when it's not advertising an app at all (for example, a web campaign) or when there’s no platform information tied to a campaign. Data for hidden campaigns or ad placements is not visible in the reporting dashboard or DataVault. You can link these campaigns or placements to an app if you want to see the reporting data.

How do I know if campaigns and ad placements are unlinked or hidden?

You will see a notification in the User Acquisition, Ad Monetization, and Apps tabs.

The reporting data will be shown as “Unlinked Apps” in the dashboard and Data Exporter. You can also check the Health tab for the current status.

How do I fix unlinked campaigns and ad placements?

These tools can be found in the DIAGNOSE -> Health tab. The process to link campaigns and ad placements are similar.

The Reporting columns (screenshot below) show which unlinked campaigns or placements have data tied to them and need to be linked. The best way to link them to the apps is to select multiple campaigns that should be linked to the same app and then link them all at the same time. You can determine which app a campaign belongs to by looking at the Campaign Name and Remote Campaign ID.

The filters can be used to choose specific platforms, channels and date range. “Search campaigns” allows you to search by campaign name or campaign ID. You can also hide campaigns that you don’t want to link to any apps. Reporting data will roll up to the app-level statistics within a few hours after the campaigns and placements are linked to the right apps.
